Ali Bin Ali Group was the official sponsor of the 15th Qatar Classic Squash Championship 2016, which was organized by Qatar Squash Federation in Doha recently.
The high-profile event brought together top male squash players from around the globe to compete for the big title. Upholding its reputation as an unwavering supporter of the game of squash, Ali Bin Ali Group once again deeply associated itself with this sporting event.
Ali Bin Ali Group enjoys a strong partnership with Qatar Squash Federation, and this aligns with the company’s commitment to develop Qatar as a top sporting destination both regionally and globally in line with the 2030 National Vision.
Qatar Squash Federation president and Ali Bin Ali Group Vice-Chairman Mr Nabeel Ali bin Ali was the chief guest at the awarding ceremony and presented the trophies to the finalists. Speaking at the ceremony, he said: “Qatar is a sport-loving nation and squash is a popular game here. Ali Bin Ali Group is proud and delighted to associate itself with the game and we will continue to support and promote it.”
The Qatar Classic, which kicked off on November 13, was attended by squash fans from all over Qatar and the ambience at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex was electrifying.
The all-Egyptian final on November 18, between 25-year-olds Karim Abdel Gawad and Mohamed ElShorbagy, got off to an exciting start – as anticipated – and the two players were involved in thrilling rallies and intelligent shot-making to regale the capacity Friday crowd. Reigning world squash champion Karim Abdel Gawad beat two-time defending champion and world number one Mohamed ElShorbagy in a nail-biting match.
“Being the world champion and Qatar champion sounds really good. I’m living a dream now,” said the delighted Gawad.
