ABA Holding and Qatar Cancer Society Join Forces for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Ali Bin Ali Holding, in collaboration with Qatar Cancer Society, launched a significant initiative in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Throughout the month of October 2023, ABA Holding offered vouchers for free medical screening exclusively for its employees, providing an opportunity for early detection and proactive management of breast health.

The “Beat Cancer: Own Your Health” campaign aimed to encourage ABA Holding employees to prioritize their well-being by taking advantage of the valuable opportunity. By offering free breast check-ups, ABA Holding and Qatar Cancer Society aimed to promote early detection, which is crucial for effective treatment and improved outcomes.

Breast cancer remains a prevalent concern worldwide, and October serves as a dedicated time to raise awareness and promote early detection. ABA Holding recognizes the importance of empowering individuals to take control of their health and is committed to providing accessible screening services to its employees.

The initiative reflects ABA Holding’s commitment to the well-being of its employees and the broader community. By partnering with Qatar Cancer Society, ABA Holding demonstrates its dedication to raising awareness, promoting early detection, and supporting individuals in their journey towards better health.

Appointments for the free check-up were available throughout the month of October and November 2023, ensuring ample opportunity for employees to participate.

Ali Bin Ali Holding celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Ali Bin Ali (ABA) Holding once again stepped forward to raise awareness and honor October as the Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The ‘SHOW YOU CARE. BE AWARE’ campaign, which is a part of the Group’s CSR endeavor, was aimed at informing the staff about the disease, its prevention, detection and treatment.

Such initiatives are of great importance as, according to statistics, breast cancer is by far the most common cancer in Qatar, accounting for 31 percent of cancer cases in women. It is also the second leading cause of death in women worldwide.

Encouraging wider involvement in the campaign, Ali Bin Ali Holding joined hands with Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel to host a special Zumba session for the public on October 22. The proceeds from the initiative were donated to Qatar Cancer Society.

The goal of the charity campaign was to help raise awareness of breast cancer and to depict life, fun and energy through Zumbathon. All ABA employees were invited to join the event and their participation was sponsored by Ali Bin Ali Holding.

Organized at the Fitness Center of the hotel, the area was all dressed up in pink to commemorate the occasion. The event received an overwhelming response and was a great success. More than 100 people, including ABA employees, joined the session.

The evening was wrapped-up with an exciting raffle draw where the participants got a chance to win attractive prizes from Sheraton Fitness, Monoprix and Beauty Hive Salon.

Ali Bin Ali Group Stands Together in Honoring October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The ABA Group cut across all boundaries and stood together as one family, to honor October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As a Group we organized a week-long awareness campaign from October 23 under the title ‘Let’s Do More than Wearing a Ribbon!’

As part of the week-long activities we organized a headlining event at the Head Office, in co-operation with Qatar Cancer Society (QCS). The session was attended by women employees from different departments located in the Head Office as well as ABA family members from Dohatna, ABA Medical, ABA & Partners and Logistics.

QCS gave a detailed and informative presentation about breast cancer and discussed the truth and the myths about the illness. The insightful session was followed by a testimonial by a breast cancer survivor. The inspirational 37-year-old, who was diagnosed with cancer two years ago, shared her emotional journey and victory over cancer.

Ending the gathering on a positive note, Ali Bin Ali Medical shared a new technological device with all the attendees and explained how it enables people to do breast cancer screening at home – thereby making prevention easier.

In order to engage our entire Group and give everyone equal opportunity to participate, we – along with ABA Medical – took the breast cancer awareness campaign to different divisions, including Travel, Al Danah, International Agencies & Prime Consumer Products, Luxury, ABATS and all ABA offices in Katara Plaza (Monoprix, Hospitality, Fashion, Desert Eye & Sports Gate) through the rest of the week.

The attendees lauded the initiative and said it gave them valuable insight into the critical health issue and would help them take appropriate decisions in future. It is important to remember, this is an ongoing campaign. As the ABA family lets remind ourselves that NOW is time to take action. Let’s do regular self-examinations and contact our doctors if we notice anything unusual.

We would like to thank everyone for their wholehearted participation and extend our gratitude to ABA Medical, Casa Flora, Fauchon and ABA Beverages for lending their precious support and making the campaign so successful.
