Ali Bin Ali Group was the official sponsor of the 15th Qatar Classic Squash Championship 2016, which was organized by Qatar Squash Federation in Doha recently.

The high-profile event brought together top male squash players from around the globe to compete for the big title. Upholding its reputation as an unwavering supporter of the game of squash, Ali Bin Ali Group once again deeply associated itself with this sporting event.

Qatar Squash Federation president and Ali Bin Ali Group Vice-Chairman Mr Nabeel Ali bin Ali was the chief guest at the awarding ceremony and presented the trophies to the finalists. Speaking at the ceremony, he said: “Qatar is a sport-loving nation and squash is a popular game here. Ali Bin Ali Group is proud and delighted to associate itself with the game and we will continue to support and promote it.”

The Qatar Classic, which kicked off on November 13, was attended by squash fans from all over Qatar and the ambience at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex was electrifying.

The all-Egyptian final on November 18, between 25-year-olds Karim Abdel Gawad and Mohamed ElShorbagy, got off to an exciting start – as anticipated – and the two players were involved in thrilling rallies and intelligent shot-making to regale the capacity Friday crowd. Reigning world squash champion Karim Abdel Gawad beat two-time defending champion and world number one Mohamed ElShorbagy in a nail-biting match.

“Being the world champion and Qatar champion sounds really good. I’m living a dream now,” said the delighted Gawad.

Ali Bin Ali Group supports Al Zubarah conservation project

On Sunday, 6 November 2016, more than 50 young volunteers from Qatar and around the world have begun a 20-day project to conserve the historic Al Zubarah heritage site. Ali Bin Ali Group, along with Seashore Group and Ooredoo, is a proud sponsor of the project, which forms part of Unesco’s World Heritage Volunteers’ ‘Together for Heritage’ campaign.

The initiative, which comes within the framework of the Unesco World Heritage Education Programme, aims at increasing awareness and reinforcing the importance of conserving and protecting world heritage. Al Zubarah,  Qatar’s largest heritage site, has been named a Unesco World Heritage Site and is one of the best-preserved examples of an 18th century merchant town in the Gulf region.

To celebrate the commencement of the project in Qatar, volunteers from all over the world attended a welcome reception at Al Zubarah on Sunday.

Speaking at the event, Mr Adel Ali Bin Ali, Chairman of Ali Bin Ali Group, said: “Ali Bin Ali Group is unwaveringly committed to the elevation of Qatar’s national heritage. Qatar’s Al Zubarah site offers an outstanding testimony to our thriving urban trading and pearl-diving traditions from centuries ago. With Unesco rightly recognising the importance of this historical site, Al Zubarah deserves the highest commitment from us all to protect, preserve and showcase this national treasure. As a private sector organisation that is deeply proud of the historical roots of our nation, we consider it a privilege and an honour to step forward as a sponsor of this initiative in order to preserve its significance for future generations.”

Now in its ninth consecutive year, the ‘Together for Heritage campaign’ seeks to mobilise and involve young people aged 18-30 years and youth organisations in World Heritage preservation and promotion.

 

Super user’s orientation workshop for the ‘Forward’ project

Taking a step ‘forward’ towards the success of the ongoing ERP project, the ABA Group on Sunday (November 13) organized an orientation program for the HRMS super users. After more than a year of hard work, the dream ERP project is on the verge of becoming a reality. One of the biggest internal project of the Ali Bin Ali Group (ABA), the ‘Forward’ ERP project is going to elevate the company to new heights.

The orientation marked the beginning of a training period for the ‘Super Users’ keeping in mind the big ‘Go live’ event that took place in early February, 2017. It also intended to praise their commitment to HRMS implementation so far.

Mr. Albert Bamboukian, the Project Director, kicked off the event with an encouraging speech. He appreciated the efforts of the team and said, “The dedication and commitment of this team during the training and user acceptance testing will define the success of this project”. He also assured his continuous support and said, “I will be always available for any help”.

The super users who are being trained to lead the change include, Ajay Daniel John, Ganesh Gopal, Pinto Idicula, Farouk Mahmoud, Mihira Binduhewa, Iman Javed, Muhammed Rayees, Elmer Castillo, Emad Hanna, Ivee Teresa Teodoro, Denver Ferdinand, Liza Guzma, Mehdi Bekri, Rachna Mathew and Nikolay Stoichkov.

The ERP project team of ABA along with Intrasoft began the workshop by giving an overview of the project so far. Apart from discussing the different HCM modules, the team discussed about the challenges ahead and the roles and responsibilities of the key users in addressing them.

The event which took place at the Westin Doha Hotel & Spa, aimed at explaining how the core team with the help of Intrasoft will really decide the success of the project and will take ABA to new heights. Ice breaker events and team activities were organized to highlight the importance of team work and positive outlook.

The event was concluded in a very positive note with a cake cutting ceremony and a promise to spearhead the big change within the ABA Group that will benefit each and every employee.

PepsiCo recognises ABA Beverages Division’s product excellence with prestigious awards

Adding another feather to the Ali Bin Ali Group’s cap, the ABA Beverages division has been awarded the prestigious Caleb Bradham Quality Excellence Award & Food Safety Award for the year 2015.

By earning these two distinguished honours, ABA Beverages is able to continue with its award-winning legacy.

The award ceremony, which took place at the PepsiCo International office in Dubai, the UAE, was attended by the senior ABA Pepsi team and was a gala affair.

The ABA Beverages Division earned the accolades based on the results of the AIBI UK Food Safety and PepsiCo International Unannounced Quality Audits.

ABA Beverages bagged the PepsiCo Caleb Bradham Quality Award on meeting the criteria set for the Silver Quality Award for 3D quality systems for the year 2015. It also scored 900/1,000 points in the Food Safety Audit, the highest score in the Gulf, and was honoured with the Silver Award for 2015.

The company was presented with the above awards based on the continuous monitoring of the quality of ABA Beverages products in the market for the entire year.

The Ali Bin Ali Group’s Medical division scored a major regional achievement recently and bagged a top award from medical solutions giant Siemens.

Siemens Healthineers upheld Ali Bin Ali Medical as an exemplary performer and awarded them a deserved win as the Middle East region’s most outstanding performer in the Services Business sector. The award saw ABA Medical beat other regional healthcare solutions and service providers due to a focused market strategy followed by its team.

The awards ceremony was part of the Middle East Partner event that was hosted by Siemens and took place in the UAE, at the Westin hotel in Dubai. The outstanding performer award was handed over by Siemens Healthineers Managing Director Mr. Kay Zwingenberger who commended the winners on their exceptional achievement and the robust growth shown year after year.
